Awards

Awards are markers of moments when everything seemed to go right.

Here’s just a sampling of some of Jaeger’s significant awards:

1982

Awarded Best Broadcast of Canadian Music by the Canadian Music Council for “Two New Hours”. Helped to initiate a partnership with the Canadian Music Centre with the creation of the Centrediscs Record Label.

1984

Awarded Best Radio Feature by the Canadian Music Council for “Vivier”, on Canadian composer Claude Vivier.

1991

Schafer 5, a recording produced by David Jaeger for the Centrediscs Label won two JUNO awards: 1. Best Classical Recording – Chamber Music – The Orford String Quartet, and 2. Best Classical Composition – R. Murray Schafer: String Quartet No. 5.

1996-1999

Awarded Gold, Silver & Bronze medals at the International Radio Festival of New York.

2009

Co-winner (with Sandy Thacker & Pascale Labrie) of a President’s Award for the Evolution project.

1999

Tabu Tabuhan – the music of Colin McPhee, a recording produced for CBC Records (along with Anton Kwiatkowski) won the JUNO for Best Classical Composition: Concerto for Wind Orchestra

2003

Requiem for a Charred Skull by Bramwell Tovey – a recording produced with the Hannaford Street Silver Band won the JUNO for Classical Composition of the Year.

2004

Concertos: Music of Jacques Hetu – a recording David produced (with Karen Wilson) with the CBC Radio Orchestra won the JUNO for Classical Album of the Year: Large Ensemble

2011

Wild Bird – a recording Jaeger produced with Duo Concertante (Nancy Dahn and Timothy Steeves) for the Centrediscs label won the JUNO for Classical Composition of the Year for the Duo for violin and piano by R. Murray Schafer.

2012

Sepia Fragments by Derek Charke – a recording produced by David Jaeger with the St. Lawrence String Quartet on the Centrediscs label

2017

Incarnation – a recording produced with Duo Concertante (Nancy Dahn and Timothy Steeves) for the Marquis Classics label won the East Coast Music Award for Classical Recording of the Year.

2018

Named a Member of the Order of Canada

2018

Duo Concertante’s Perfect Light was named ECMA (East Coast Music Awards) Classical Album of the Year.
